The Summer Solstice is one of Judy Niemeyer’s most popular patterns because it can be made with so many different color combinations and all are so beautiful. This pattern uses a strip piecing technique that expands on the traditional foundation paper piecing approach to complete the lone star units. This leads to extreme accuracy in building the actual lone star.
There is a first session (no sewing) for organization and color guidance. In the first session you will guided through the fabric and color selection process and how to use a sample wedge design of the actual lone star, that will allow you to better visualize the final lone star using your own color selections.
Although this pattern is very complicated looking, it is quite easy to assemble and this current pattern design does not have any “Y” seams.
