Skill Level:  Beginner

The purpose of this 6 class course is to familiarize yourself with the PE Design software so you will be able to create simple designs from scratch and to customize and edit existing designs. The Course will take you through the Layout and Editing feature of the software and will cover all of the tools on the Home Tab, Edit Tab, Arrange Tab, Attributes Tab, Sewing Order Pane and Attributes Pane. The tools in the Image Tab will NOT be covered as well as some of the more advanced tools.  The Editing Tools will be explained using the technique of defining “What, When, Why, and How” to use the tools. You will work on specific designs in order to practice what you are learning.   The Design Database will also be covered. This course was designed for beginner software users who are interested in learning what it does and how it can help you create or edit designs.

Topic:  Thursday, January 25 – Class 1,​ Introduction to Layout and Editing screen:​ All the tools and tabs and panes. Customizing your software, creating a quick access toolbar, keyboard shortcuts, organizing designs, importing designs, printing templates, template function, getting the design to your machine.

Topic:  Thursday, February 22– Class 2, ​Beginning Digitizing: Shape Tools, Drawing Tools, and Arrange Tab: ​Select point tool, basic applique, adding applique to existing designs, alignment tool, mirror copy tool, 4 way mirror copy tool, circle copy tool, flipping and rotating designs.

Topic:  Thursday, February 28 – Class 3, ​All about Text:​ Adding text to a design, editing text, fit text to outline, small text tool.

Topic:  Wednesday, March 22– Class 4,​ Editing Designs:​ Selecting designs, grouping and ungrouping, changing color and stitch order, dividing stitches by color, removing a color, isolating part of a design, hole sewing.

Topic:  Thursday, March 29 – Class 5,​ Resizing and Sewing Attributes:​ Understanding sewing attributes and how they affect editing, avoiding pitfalls, satin stitch resizing, changing stitch density, changing sewing attributes of purchased designs, extracting design segments.

Topic:  Thursday, April 26 – Class 6,​ Sewing attributes continued and Monograms:​ changing sewing attributes of purchased designs (continued), using monogram fonts, using embroidery fonts, nontraditional monograms, creative monograms.

Class limited:  The class is limited to 8 students.

Learn how to design a purse pattern in the IQ Designer (Destiny) or My Design Center (Dream Machine) to be stitched out as an ITH project. Once created the pattern can be used over and over again to make more purses. You can also create other styes. All it takes is a little imagination.

This first class is a skill builder class that will increase your knowledge of the tools and process needed to create the purse. We will be reviewing all the Design Center tools,  learn to draw and place the zipper, add embroidery and quilting, and maneuver between the embroidery screen and the design center. We will make a small project using these tools. Students will need to bring their Destiny or Dream Machines with embroidery arm to class. A supply list will be sent to you after you register for the class.

Class limited:  The class is limited to 8 students.

This is the second class of a two-part class for making an ITH purse. Learn how to create a purse pattern in the IQ Designer or My Design Creator that can be completed ITH. This is an all day workshop. The design as you go method will be used to create the pattern and the purse at the same time using the tools learned in the skill builder class. On completion the pattern can be saved as a complete pattern to be used again and again.  Students will need to bring their Destiny or Dream Machines with embroidery arm to class along with a lunch. A supply list will be sent to you after you register for the class.
