Beginning Sewing for Kids

Kids from 10 and up will learn the basics of sewing. They will make “friends” with a sewing machine and hopefully develop a lasting love of sewing. Fun projects will be skill builders-each week a new technique will be introduced. Contact the teacher for class information, supply lists and machine information.
Quick Quilts: – 3rd Monday of each month

Each month we will explore a new technique for creating fun interesting quilts quickly. Learn to use your specialty rulers and pre-cuts. Tips and tricks for sewing and more. A sample of upcoming project will be posted in the store each month or contact Marian for details and sign up.

Basic sewing for the beginner or the terrified- this is a fun skill building class: we will start with the basics to develop confidence and spark your creative side! Each week a project using a particular skill or technique will be presented and each subsequent class we will build on what has already been learned. Students must bring their own machine or make arrangements to borrow one from the shop. The whole idea is to have fun and learn solid skills at the same time!

This is Block of the Month is a raw edge applique class featuring the designs from Edyta Sitar. The 12″ X 16 1/2″ blocks are filled with fantastic batik flowers and beautiful seasonal items. You can make them as single wall hangings, group several together in a bed runner or small wall hanging, or put them together into a fabulous 73″ X 76″ quilt. Come join the fun and start your monthly adventure.

Machine Quilting with Westalee Rulers – Beginner

Are you struggling to quilt your own quilts or getting tired of quilting the same old thing on all of your quilts? This class is for you. We will learn how to quilt on a domestic machine with the Westalee rulers. Longarm quilters have been using rulers to quilt with for many years and now you can quilt with rulers too on your domestic machine. We will do a a small wall hanging with 9 blocks and also learn to put these blocks together with a quilt as you go easy method. You are going to love it. This is a beginner class, or for those that need a refresher. You will be required to bring your machine in on the first class. Then, we will be working on designs with paper and you will go home and stitch the designs. This has proven to be a very effective way to learn the rulers and you will not have to lug those big machines into class.

This class is for anyone that has taken the beginner class and those that maybe have been playing with the ruler
s and need to be a little more challenged. We are going to start with a feather table runner and then move onto other templates on which the class decides. We also will be bringing in quilt tops and blocks that you want to discuss on how you are going to quilt them using the Westalee rulers and maybe free motion quilting. They go hand and hand
